Supporter of Social Enterprise
Dear Supporter of Social Enterprise
I am writing to update you on how social enterprise support is now being delivered in Cambridgeshire. As you may by now be aware, sadly the Cambridge Cooperative Development Agency, trading as The Social Enterprise People, ceased trading at the end of March, with all staff made redundant.
Citylife, the Cambridge-based social investment society, decided to try to relaunch the service because of the good fit with the social enterprise centre we are operating, and because we believe the service is essential if social enterprises in the county are to fulfil their potential at this critical time for the economy.
Citylife is currently building up the capacity of the service, and key areas include:
Business development of social enterprises, through Business Link vouchers and CVSIC’s Cambridgeshire United programme, which has a significant strand helping third sector organisations to explore trading opportunities.
Social impact measurement – crucial for funding and to demonstrate the difference you make: whether you want outcomes training, social return on investment (SROI) analysis or to implement an embedded social accounting system.
Incubation – Citylife can offer affordable starter and growth units in Cambridge, and is developing ‘The Good Business Centre as a permanent facility over the next 2 years.
Networking through the relaunched Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Social Enterprise Network – a chance to link up with other social enterprises in the area and learn from each other. Join it today – it’s free.
Our overall aim is to develop a proactive strategy to help existing social enterprises expand or consolidate, larger social enterprises to become household names, and any third sector organisation to maximise its income generation through trading. Or if there is any other support you need, do let us know. Call us on 01223 323481. We look forward to working with you.
Many thanks
Martin Clark, Development Director
