Funding
CVSIC was formed in 2003 in response to the government’s ChangeUp agenda - a government programme that has been set up to improve the support and assistance that is available to voluntary organisations and community groups nationwide.
Recent funding has been provided through Capacitybuilders who took over the management of the Changeup programme in 2006.
Membership
CVSIC members are organisations that offer some or all of the following services:
- Start up and development support
- Information, advice and assistance
- Advocacy and representation
- Partnership building and brokerage

Some member organisations support groups with a specific focus (for example, older people, younger people or black and ethnic minorities) and some offer services to all groups in their area or countywide.

Joining CVSIC
To become a member of CVSIC is free, membership of CVSIC is restricted to voluntary sector / not for profit agencies whose primary function is to provide infrastructure services and support to Voluntary and Community Sector organisations and groups.
Infrastructure services can be defined as “the physical facilities, structures, systems, relationships, people, knowledge and skills that help frontline organisations and community groups to achieve their aims".
Membership is constantly reviewed in response to the priorities and work of the Consortium and any guidance received nationally or regionally.
If you wish to be considered for membership please contact Jacqueline Rolph, CVSIC Project Worker on 07951301568 or click here to download a membership application form. Once completed, please send to:

Representation
CVSIC has seats on several statutory partnerships:
Cambridgeshire Together
Cambridgeshire Together is the Local Area Agreement Board in Cambridgeshire. CVSIC has one place on this partnership and members have elected Lynn Hogarth to take this place. For more information about Cambridgeshire Together visit www.cambstogether.org.uk. This takes you to the quarterly e-bulletin. The 'Diary" page provides dates of future Board Meetings (next one 20th February, 2009 and the 26th February 2009) and also provides a link to the minutes of meetings and other relevant documentation. Of particular note and a must read document is the Cambridgeshire Local Area Agreement, a link to this can be found on the website. As this is essentially a quarterly newsletter you can choose to subscribe if you wish.
Cambridgeshire LAA Reference Group
The LAA Reference Group feeds into the Cambridgeshire Together Board. CVSIC has one place on this partnership and members have elected Gloria Culyer from Age Concern Cambridgeshire to take this place.
LSC Regional Meeting
The Learning and Skills Council holds a regional meeting to which CVSIC is invited to send a representative. Tim Cracknell from the GET Group attends meetings of this partnership.
Cambridgeshire Compact - Funding Code Group
This Group has been set up to establish a funding code to underpin the Cambridgeshire Compact. CVSIC has one place on this partnership and Gloria Culyer from Age Concern Cambridgeshire attends these meetings.
These elected representitives attend these partnerships on behalf of CVSIC and therefore represent the whole of the voluntary and communtiy sector in Cambridgeshire.
Voluntary Sector representation more generally
In addition, members of CVSIC also sit on a number of partnerships in their own right. That means that they are not there to represent the voluntary and community sector but to represent their own organisation. However, there is inevitably some overlap and members do express views that may apply more widely than just for their own organisation.
